Blue may represent sadness, but it also represents
peace.  God uses this
peaceful color as the backdrop for the several colors of
the rainbow representing the
souls of those in Heaven.   If you are feeling ‘blue’ during this
Holiday season,
please join us for our “blue’ Christmas service that will be filled
with prayer and peace.

From the desk of Fr. Harvey. . .

Thanks! God’s peace and all good to you all!!
Thanks, as always, to everyone who joined us for worship yesterday! You can still watch the 10:00 service on our Facebook Page. If you prefer a YouTube version, click here.

I have lots more thank yous as well. Thanks to Bob Rendrick and his crew for their work on the Veterans’ Lunch last week. Also to Jo Joubert and her crew for the Christmas Supper, and to Valerie Smart, Ellen Scott, Norma Turcotte and their crew for Breakfast with Santa! It was a big week!

The fun keeps going this week. Tomorrow afternoon (12/14), we have the next session of our Advent Formation series, O Come Emmanuel at 4:15 on Zoom. To join us, you can click here or on the link below. Tomorrow night is also Vestry.

Friday we have our regular events: Healing Eucharist at noon, Bible Study at 1:00, and Contemplative Prayer at 2:30. All three will be in person, but you can also join the Friday Bible Study by Zoom.

Sunday we finish Advent with our regular services at 8:00 and 10:00. After the 10:00 service, we’ll “Green the Church” (i.e. decorate it for Christmas). Both during Sunday School and then after the 10:00 service, the children will rehearse for the Christmas Pageant. And at 1:00, we’ll have our Blue Christmas Service. This is a service designed for those who struggle in this season. Please help spread the word to anyone you think might be interested. We will livestream the Blue Christmas service on Facebook and broadcast it on channel 12.

This week is also the deadline for Toys for Tots. This morning Jim Shields is taking over the presents dropped at Saint David’s. (Thanks, Jim!) You can still drop unwrapped toys off at People’s Bank later today. And, if you would like to contribute to our Christmas flowers in honor of, memory of, or thanksgiving for someone, please let the office know this week.

Shockingly, Christmas is less than two weeks away! On Christmas Eve (not this Friday but next), we’ll have a traditional Christmas Eve service at an untraditional time: noon. We’ll have a family service at 5:00 that evening with a children’s pageant. Both services will be livestreamed and broadcast as well. On Christmas Day, I’ll livestream a service of Morning Prayer at 9:00 from my home. And on Sunday, December 26, we’ll have a regular service of Holy Communion at 8:00 and a service of Lessons and Carols at 10:00.

The readings and hymns for next Sunday are listed below. Please send me any prayer requests, including birthdays or anniversaries to pray over.

Fr. Harvey+

Substance abuse is only too common.  Whether this is something that plagues your family history, a new onset due to an injury, or a means of escaping painful realities of life, this is the real pandemic that is taking ,the lives of our young and old alike.  Prescription drugs are beneficial as controlled substances for pain relief; however, when one falls victim to the "uncontrolled' , this relief becomes an addiction.  You are not alone; there are resources that can help.  At St. David's, please know that our healing ministry is here for you and/or a loved one.  Please contact our office to inquire about meeting with our healing team; everything is kept confidential.  Once we are able to open our building, we welcome back AA and NA groups.  Also, Help.org is an organization that specializes in substance abuse.  Don't wait, don't hesitate - it could be too late!  Get help now.

Week 3   Advent Prayer: Blessed are you, sovereign Lord, just and true: to you be praise and glory forever. Your prophet John the Baptist was witness to the truth as a burning and shining light. May we your servants rejoice in his light, and so be led to witness to him who is the Lord of our coming kingdom, Jesus our Savior and King of the ages. Blessed be God for ever.
or
God our Father, you gave to Zechariah and Elizabeth in their old age a son called John. He grew up strong in spirit, prepared the people for the coming of the Lord, and baptized them in the Jordan to wash away their sins. Help us, who have been baptized into Christ, to be ready to welcome him into our hearts, and to grow strong in faith by the power of the Spirit. We ask this through Jesus Christ, the light who is coming into the world. Amen.

Reading: As the people were filled with expectation, and all were questioning in their hearts concerning John, whether he might be the Messiah, John answered all of them by saying, “I baptize you with water; but one who is more powerful than I is coming; I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. (Luke 3:15-16)

First Time at Saint David’s?

Our regular services are at 8:00 and 10:00 on Sunday mornings.

At both services, we sing songs, read passages from the Bible, hear a sermon about how the Bible applies to our lives, and celebrate Holy Communion. The service lasts about an hour.

You can follow the service on screens at the front of the Church or else in the red Book of Common Prayer in the pews.

Children are welcome at all services. There is also a nursery available during all services, as well as special children’s programming during the 10:00 service.

After the 10:00 service, please join us for pastries, coffee, and/or juice. We would love to get to know you better!

We have ample parking, and the Church is fully handicapped-accessible.

Praise and worship of our Lord does not end when the service is over. We are all encouraged to go in peace to love and serve the Lord where ever life takes us. Don't miss out on what you deserve: peace, love, and happiness. Come to St. David's where you will find that and more. ALL are welcome, please join us!
St. David's is a place where new friendships are formed and old friendships blossom. Saint David’s is called to be: a caring community of dynamic worship and relevant teaching designed to provide a foundation for our daily lives and to equip believers to serve God in the world.

As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are called to love God; committing ourselves to lives of joyful worship, prayer and the teaching of scripture

The viability of our church can only be sustained with your unending support.  St David's offers so much to our parish and to the community through our many projects and ministries.  Our parishioners make our church a warm and friendly place to worship, the physical surroundings offer a comfortable and peaceful environment to gather, and Fr. Harvey offers a personal touch in helping us understand the word of the Lord.  Please consider making a general donation or a donation to our memorial fund, or our children's ministry.  Click on the "Donate" button below, mail a check or put in our collection basket during our services.  Thank you in advance for your support.

We Would Love to Have You Visit Soon!
