Holy Communion
Our Prayerbook defines Holy Eucharist as “the principal act of Christian worship on the Lord’s Day and other major Feasts” (13). We offer services of Holy Communion virtually every Sunday at 8:00 and 10:00. The 8:00 service is a little more formal and traditional; the 10:00 service is a little more contemporary. All baptized Christians are welcome to share in Holy Communion around the altar. Ushers will tell you when to come forward. At the altar, you are welcome to stand or kneel, as you are able. The priest will come by with a small wafer; please hold out your hands to receive it. A member of the congregation will follow with a cup of wine. Please dip your wafer in the wine, consume the wafer, and return to your seat. If you would like a brief special prayer, bring forward a ribbon (available from the usher). The priest will ask if you have a particular prayer request. You are welcome to receive a brief blessing rather than communion if you prefer.
Confirmation and Reaffirmation
The Bishop makes a formal visitation to Saint David’s every other year. The schedule for next year isn’t finalized, but he will probably be at Saint David’s in February. Among the joys of his visits are confirmations and receptions into the Episcopal Church.
To get ready, we are offering Confirmation Classes this Fall, probably on Sundays after the 10:00 service, beginning something like October 15. It looks like we should have a good group, with adults and teenagers. If you are interested in more information or joining the classes, please contact Fr. Harvey. Teens should be at least sixteen by the time the Bishop comes, although exceptions can be made for interested younger children. Folks who don’t need to be confirmed or received but would like to learn more about their faith and our Church are also welcome! DIOCESAN CONFIRMATION CLASSES (3/2023) This class is a great way to do confirmation preparation, but it would also be great for folks who want to be received, reaffirm their baptismal vows, or anyone who just wants a refresher. Most of the sessions will be Wednesday evening via Zoom, but the concluding session will be an in-person quiet day. Classes will start March 1, take a break for Holy Week, and then finish up in Easter. Dates for the classes are below. The sessions will be recorded for anyone who can’t join live.
